Substituiting the two 0x01s at offset 0x20 and 0x24 with two 0x00s solved the problem and the game running fine.
eh eh eh exactly as I guessed :)
in the next version (which will be released after the 20th of this month) I will add an additional option for controlling those two boolean values for avoiding the manual hex editing if it's necessary to specify zero values.

Hey everyone, i was helping a little in this topic at the beggining, but I stoped posting because my computer wasn't open this forum

I and my team are translating the 1st and 2nd season of Sam & Max. Look the screenshots! Its great! We are translating and using Hex to remove the characters limits. Each member is translating a episode. I am at the 2nd of the season 2 and I am at the half (line 200 of 400)

The problem is that only one guy knows how to use Hex (I suck in this), and we need a Langdb editor. Someone knows one that works with Sam&Max?

Oh, and congratulations for the editor of Tales of Monkey Island!

SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH

Hello to everyone,

I've been reading the topic and I've tried some things here, but it seems that it doesn't work for me. I want to translate ToMI on bulgarian but I need some hints on how to do it.

I already know that the langdb is inside "1_MonkeyIsland101_pc_data.ttarch", but how am I supposed to extract it?
And/if I'm able to translate it, how to put it back in to test it and stuff?

Thanks :)

ttarchext.exe -f "*.langdb" 24 "C:\Program Files\Telltale Games\Tales of Monkey Island\Launch of the Screaming Narwhal\Pack\1_MonkeyIsland101_pc_data.ttarch" c:\output_folder

... edit the langdb file and then ...

ttarchext.exe -b -V 7 24 "C:\Program Files\Telltale Games\Tales of Monkey Island\Launch of the Screaming Narwhal\Pack\0.ttarch" c:\output_folder

It gave me an error when I lauched the game. Then I've changed "-b -V 8 24" with "-b -V 7 24" and it works fine, but I see no translation happening.

Am I supposed to leave 0.ttarch file like this (only langdb inside) or should I extraxt the whole 1_MonkeyIsland101_pc_data.ttarch and rebuild it again with the changed langdb?

It works in both ways... check if you are creating the new ttarch with the translated LangDB and remember to place de new ttarch in the "Pack" folder of the game

What I've noticed was that the ttarchext.exe use no files to create the 0.ttarch file

What I do is, I extract the english.langdb file in c:\output_folder with this command:
ttarchext.exe -f "*.langdb" 24 "D:\Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1\Launch of the Screaming Narwhal\Pack\1_MonkeyIsland101_pc_data.ttarch" c:\output_folder

So far so good.
I do some editing in the file and I try to rebuild it with this command:
ttarchext.exe -b -V 7 24 "d:\Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1\Launch of the Screaming Narwhal\Pack\0.ttarch" c:\output_folder

But this is what ttarchext.exe shows me:

Code: Select all

- start building of d:\Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1\Launch of the Screaming
Narwhal\Pack\0.ttarch
- the file "d:\Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1\Launch of the Screaming Narwhal\
Pack\0.ttarch" already exists
do you want to overwrite it (y/N/all)? y
- set output folder c:\output_folder
- set the blowfish key of "Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwh
al"
- start recursive scanning
- collected 0 files
- start building of the file

- 0 files found
- done
0 files found... I just can't seem to be able to crack this one...

I guess you use Vista or Windows7 right?
at the moment there are problems with the function which scans the folder and these operating systems, I should fix them one day maybe but it's not clear what these OS want

Yes, I'm on Vista. I also have XP, but it's quite unpleasant to change OSs all the time.
I hope you can fix this soon :)

edit:

Can anybody tell me how to edit "weathered_sf_30.font" so can insert cyrillic letters (something like the russian guys did), becouse if I try to use letters from my language, ingame there are showing like "?".

As I found weathered_sf_30.font is not a font file, so I can't just set it in some font editor to do it. I red something about Hex editor but I've no clue what to do with it...
