The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot .bfpc

Post by TaylorMouse »

Hi, I just gotten a beta key from the The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot game by Ubisoft.

The files are packed and have an extension bfpc, in a folder called GameData\BigFiles\PC, so I presume that is what bfpc stands for.

It does not seem to open with the standard winrar, winzip, unzip etc stuff I use...

how do I start to get these files to extract?

I could upload a sample file if you want, just ask

The link for the game download is impossible, since you need first the downloader and through it you need to enter your key, once it is validated it will start the download of the rest :/

I added one of the files, first unrar it since I can only upload 256kb and the bfpc extension is not allowed

I just noticed using the hex editor that there are chunks of data marked with 0xDEADBEEF, maybe a good place to start?

Also, the first one always seems to start at 0x0800h or after 2048 bytes

The game just went open beta, so could anyone tell me how to open or unpack the .bfpc files?

Yeah, since I'm only interested in the models, and not playing the game, it should be ok, also the game is not that big to download

Thnx Chrrox!

Any luck on un packing them... I'm know some reverse engineering on models but I haven't got a clue where to start with packed files :/

its a bunch of chunk sections I don't think its really meant to be extracted.
the best way to extract the files i guess is to separate them .
Each chunk starts with the hex

Code: Select all

DE AD BE EF
.
followed by the sub chunk count.
then there are this many
_OBJ
sections.
Thats about it models looked uncompressed from what i saw in the files.

Code: Select all

# The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot [.BFPC]
# Script v1.0
# By: Gh0stblade

goto 0x100

get chunkSize long
get dummy long
get numChunks long

for i = 0 < numChunks
get name basename
string name += "_"
string name += i
string name += ".bin"

set offset i
math offset *= chunkSize
math offset += 0x800
log name offset chunkSize
next i
This should split out those chunks.
