Re: Ninja Ripper

Post by thorh62 » Thu Feb 22, 2018 6:05 am

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to rip the 3d models of a racing game called "planet hot wheels" using Ninja Ripper

I downloaded the latest version of NR, then ran the x86 version of NR as administrator
I followed the steps in the manual and the game launches successfully when I press "run"
but when I press the shortcut for ripping in the car selection menu, nothing happens
these are the logs when I tried the intruder and dx8 wrapper methods

My OS is windows 10.
Let me know if you have any ideas. Finally, I know that it is possible to rip the models using NR because somebody has already done that...They told me they used Win Xp though. Could that play a role?

a RAW file can be a picture, usually it is used to as HeightMap for the terrain, and define the higher and lower area.

You could use Photoshop or IrfanView but you MUST know the exactly size of the picture, which usually it's a square, multiplied by 8 +1 (for example 1024+1 = 1025x1025)

It happens to me too everytime with Settlers 7.
you have to use the import plugin to displace the meshes around your X and Y coords.

I have tried to open those *.rip files on NoeSis, but it looks the same as in 3DSMax,
i think the problem is not on import process, that is on ripping process (?)
or that site has a rip protection system (?) -- i'm not sure, any other idea?

its a big deal to rearrange 20k vertices and since the *.rip files are written in binary format.. its hard to interpret
and finally it means the same as making your own model.

I hope @blackninja can add an option to write it in ASCII like obj or maybe waiting for someone to make a converter

but if someone can give me tips & tricks to solve this problem, I would be very grateful

Can anybody please tell me, why the ripped meshes are seems round shaped. Every file is same type sphered mesh.
Seems all the vertex positions are captured incorrectly.

the vertices are modified by the shader. The ripper retrieves the data before the shader

Thanks for your reply, which puts light on the problem. And now I can understand what is the problem.

So is there any way to rip the model after the shader modified the vertices?
