Hello everyone. Here i'd like to present some documentation on file formats found in "Kao the Kangaroo" series.

Features:
- Reading and saving AR files from "Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2" and "Kao: Mystery of the Volcano"
- Converting maps from "Kao the Kangaroo" to "Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2" engine.
- Viewing geometry, viewing animations
- Exporting 3D meshes to OBJ format, importing custom level layouts

KAO_tools.exe (very old tool)

- KAO2 SaveGame
- Kao2 *.ar textures export (and some other info exported to a *.log file)

I wrote simple command-line tool, so you can try it out yourself if you have the game ;).

But I don't see anybody interested in modding the KAO games at this moment.

Hi Flower35, i tried a few years ago import models to blender, least can import vertices and triangles, on characters models are distorted.

can you type a corresponded file formats your tools can work with like you did for KAO2 textures (*.ar format)?

Hello everybody. :)

The first post was updated with a link to the currently developed modding tool for Kao2 – "ZookieWizard".

This program supports all games from Kao the Kangaroo series that were developed on the "elephant" engine – that is all PC and console releases of "Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2", as well as "Kao: Mystery of the Volcano".
