Hello, well here I come back some years ago and post this format, this is a old anime game very funny models, I unpack all and get a couple of files like DDS, X and XET, so maybe somebody can take a look this format? this is header of X and XET files.

.X looks like a standard DirctX 3D file

I think Milkshape and older Blender versions can import it.

They are compressed so you will want to decompress the model file first before importing it into a program.

so any help to descompress this files? can you provide some help please? or maybe you want money for do it don't know.

what .x file are you running it on? i tried them no problem.
the extractor you have looks wrong a lot of those .x files are not .x files.

the files I upload here, I try with them and no luck, so using your script to unpack them and after that modify the header how you say before, but can't descompress .X

PD: I have latest QuickBMS

I used the file you posted the only ones that work are the xof ones.
MOST of the files you posted are not .x files.
Try it on Avatar_Xiaohu_Leg0080.x
it will create
Avatar_Xiaohu_Leg0080.X.cab
then extract the cab with Microsoft tool.



Avatar_Bow_weapon001.x is not a .x FILE.
look at it in a hex editor
starts with "KSM "


Only the files with a CAPITAL X are xof files.
the lowercase x files are KSM files.

well many thanks for all your support chrrox, my question is next, why after editing with hex and adding 78 6F 66 20 30 33 30 33 74 78 74 20 30 30 33 32 or 78 6F 66 20 30 33 30 33 62 69 6E 20 30 30 33 32 and try load into 3DS Max with X Files Importer get error and can't be imported, my 3DS Max crash and close.

PD: so I understand what says in contribution of Microsoft Direct X XOF Extractor you say need change first 0x10 bytes but Itry with 2 samples you put there and well anyway I get error when try load file.

Most .x importers are terrible.
you can try deep exploration.

I know it's not a very good method but personally I open .x files in mview.exe (MeshView from DirectX 9 SDK) and rip the meshes using a 3D ripper. That may be a bad choice if you want to export the bones and whatnot.

You could also try fragMOTION. It's not a free program but it has a trial version. It seems to have a pretty decent importer for .x files

using mofo's XPorter (http://mofo.pns.to/wibs/#5) with 3dsmax2013 works:
