Custom file format for saved info

Post by JimieSitu » Thu Jul 15, 2021 7:02 pm

I'm currently working on a 2D horror game, and wanted to allow players to create custom levels and save that data to share with other people. I realize I could easily save it as an XML or a txt file, but it'd be much better to have something that is encrypted or not easily read, so that peoples designs are at least somewhat protected. How would I go about creating my own ".2dg" file?

Well, that depends on what engine are you using and what is main programming language for logic in your game.
For example you can find some useful code for Unity here https://github.com/dubit/unity-crypto
There are of course many other solutions on the web.
