Re: tracker music
uhmm considering that this format is used only in a very limited number of very old games and the mods have been already converted I don't think it can be defined interesting. anyway if you are really interested you could try to contact directly who did the conversion job: http://users.hszk.bme.hu/~...

looks like the classical nintendo dsp adpcm at 16khz but it's not clear where is located the coefficient table so the result (a sequence of hispanic phrases) is a bit noisy

Re: GTA IV LZX compression on resource data
are you really sure that it's a LZX block? I have tried to use the m$ lzx decompression which comes in libmspack but it doesn't work. *edit*: with "doesn't work" I mean that the input data is not accepted as valid by the lzx_decompressor function ("bad block type") and even scann...

Re: XeNTaX around for 20 years
that's horribly... true :(It is like that. 10 years goes by like it's nothing. When you're young time is gently on you, you don't notice it much. But once you reach your twenties, the pace is quickening.

Re: tracker music
ih ih ih Psycho Pinball, great game :) I was playing this game just now and, interested by the music, I found the same mod which was posted. with a quick search on internet I have found no converters for this strange format (seems used also in MicroMachines 2) but the converted mods are available he...

Re: Encrypted file - any ideas?
for the series "the best solution is the simplest" I have added the -m option to the ttarchext project which does a simple scan of the beginning of each file for finding DDS and OGG signatures in both clean and encrypted mode. from my tests this solution seems to work very well and univers...

Re: F1 Manager 2000 compression
just to not leave the post unanswered, some days ago I gave a look at that file and at the executable of the game but nothing, I found no matches with known algorithms or references to known algorithms in them P.S.: uhmmm in reality not much known, I have verified those dictionary based I reversed i...

about Telltale, the author of that tool wrote that Telltale simply asked him to not updating his tools so nothing like a complete removing or a legal menace: http://quick.mixnmojo.com/telltale-tools-an-update while I can add to the list the works of xorloser that he removed due to request of Microso...

no, it's an unknown format composed by various SONG and SMPL chunks.
the only known format which uses chunks with these same names is DBM but the format is totally different

Code: Select all
especially if you use the bad compressor "LAME"or you meant something else?
maybe you referred to the choosing of a particular LAME option and not to the LAME encoder which is considered the best encoder for quality.

Re: Files extractors scripting
I guess I have understood what's the problem (probably), I used max 8 subfolders in the script while seems that the game use more subfolders so now I have set them to 20. I don't know if this solves the problem but I guess that any file in the archive should be extracted correctly. so test the attac...

Re: Files extractors scripting
the format of the archive is enough clear, it's practically like the "binary" version of a recursing directory scanning (including "." and ".."). the problem is that it's a job for a recursive function because the bms scripts can't support it. ... anyway the attached sc...

Re: Files extractors scripting
usually the archive files have often 00 bytes (or a most used byte) inside them so if you see a sequence of b8 b8 b8 in various zones of the examined block you can guess it's a xor or rot13 which involves the byte 0xb8 (or -0x48 in the case of rot13 decryption). if you see a pattern of 8 bytes which...
