maybe give a scan of signsrch over the executables and dlls of the game, the used algorithm could be a known one (aes, blowfish, rc4, tea and so on)

where are the archives?
have you tried the zip.bms script of quickbms?
if it's an incomplete or invalid zip it will extract the contained files without problems

I already tried to write that script just for my tests and was ok except for 2 things: quickbms doesn't have a crc function and the zip archives need the crc of each archived file otherwise the extraction program doesn't extract them (yes I have already tried using the magic crc 0xdebb20e3) you can ...

xsb aren't archives, they act in a way like index files.
for example the xwb are the archives with nameless files in them and sometimes the names could be contained in the xsb files but xsb are not simple to parse and not necessary

I forgot to say that the filenames are not stored in the archive, the only thing stored is the crc of the filenames so that's the only thing you can use as name
