Re: Spotlight: Señor Casaroja's Noesis

I've got the animation translation disabled for the Python layer by default (outside of the export path), because processing all of the data into flat matrices represented as Python objects gets awful in terms of processing time and memory usage pretty quickly. I can add an option to load the model ...

Re: Final Fantasy XI .DAT (PC)

There is a way to specify "up" in Noesis, that's why the models appear oriented correctly in Noesis. Noesis doesn't rotate the geometry itself, it changes what's considered "up" in the scene. This is The Right Thing To Do. Most formats on the other hand don't support arbitrary sc...

Re: Spotlight: Señor Casaroja's Noesis

I haven't been working on Noesis much over the holiday, but I decided to wrap up what I had in progress before I go back to the unending torment of wage-slavery on Monday, so there's a new release up with a new R3000A CPU emulator. I wrote it with a mind toward making it easily-debuggable and very e...

Re: I'm begging for help on understanding PS2 file extractio

There's not much in particular I can guide you to. It's like saying you want to safely amputate your arm so you'd like some pointers on cutting through bone and you'll totally take it from there. The best course of natural knowledge accumulation for you would be to write software for your target pla...

Hi Skrillex, I see that you've created this post in 3 separate forums. While your celebrity status may grant you some leeway on other forums, I am not personally a fan of your work, and ask that you observe common courtesy for your fellow forum users by demonstrating patience and consideration that ...

Regarding no textures, what throttlekitty said, or they're just unhandled material refs. Regarding the skeleton error, try an absolute path.

Re: Dark Souls FLV file

Ideally, you wouldn't need to deal with flipping at all and could just embed the desired "handedness" in the FBX to convey to the scene renderer. I don't like the idea of modifying the data itself to compensate. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any way to do this without modifying actual tr...

Re: I'm begging for help on understanding PS2 file extractio

There aren't any particular secrets when it comes to Noesis. If it's a supported format, just open it up and export. If it's not a supported format, well, Noesis won't help you. Noesis works by interpreting the source data, rather than working with projected geometry and data that no longer exists a...

Re: Spotlight: Señor Casaroja's Noesis

Were you the one that submitted the crash report on the .win32.trb file? I saw that some releases back and changed Noesis to recognize the .win32.trb extension. Now when you try to export it, you'll get this helpful message: "This is not a supported TRB platform, and you're probably some kind o...

Re: Model formats are getting easier?

Mostly standards. There's one right way to do everything on most newer hardware, and the right thing to do isn't going to change that much in most cases dependent on per-game circumstances. Back when you didn't have hardware T&L or even a real fixed function pipeline, you were basically given a ...

Re: Final Fantasy XI .DAT (PC)

I see. The character geo + anim data will be pretty much lossless in terms of data storage if you use FBX, but what your FBX importer does on the other side could change that. The mirroring data can be recalculated from the unmirrored data, which a good exporter would want to do anyway to support ne...

Re: Final Fantasy XI .DAT (PC)

Probably won't do an exporter until the day comes that there's nothing left to do in life but write exporters for FF games, and I expect to die of cancer or heart failure before then. But, it's possible I'll get to that point, somehow. (but 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 would come first) The decryption ro...

Re: Spotlight: Señor Casaroja's Noesis

you've had a go at the dark souls files once so I thought wth, might as well ask :D I have not. I guess you're confusing me with nyxo or whoever it was that did the Souls Noesis script floating around that's presumably based on nyxo's work. I enjoyed the Souls games a lot, but nyxo seems to have be...

Re: Fallout 4 in Noesis

I *think* I get it now, thanks. NifSkope has similar code already for the previous formats, but the inverse was stored directly prior to fo4 and I think we just ran off that. Yeah, it's a pretty traditional Gamebryo concept (you'll notice the other geo paths in Noesis do similar things too), but it...
