Here's somthing else to base off of. It is apparently one of two "chara" files. Apparently the overhead view sprites. As far as I've been able to distinguish is that the graphics do not seem to be compressed, but are in a strange form somewhat resemblant to a bitmap. Not 100% sure here tho...

Feda Remake's Graphic Format (Sega Saturn)

I know, it's an odd console request but I dunno where else to go for this kind of stuff since no tools seem to exist. The graphics seem to be uncompressed, but the format is what bugs me. They have compared it to bitmap but I dunno. Here's a couple of files from the CD. I'm trying to understand the ...

Control Panel>Tools>Folder Options

From there go to the view tab, look for the thing that says "Hidden files and folders" and check "Show hidden files and folders"

Click ok then tell me if anything changes.

Yeah, it is. the IMG file is the one to most likely contain compressed files. You may want to look into it though, thoughts are that there may be hidden files.

but extracting copyrighted material and doing something with it that might upset the copyright holders is. Like selling them, putting them in a game and selling that... it's mainly about the profit off another's work that is the key problem. I know I wouldn't want sombody making money off my graphi...

Well, somehow they have extracted the music tracks as a PSF2 format I believe is what it is called and they are supported by a number of players and Winamp plugins.

"Also as of yet NO1 has been able to DECODE the PS2's MUSIC format"

Actually they have and have a player specifically for that format.

I did read, I know the game but I don't play it. Just it is a kind of a reach, being a MMO and all you can't do much with it other than probably extract sprites/music as it seems. And if one could do such a thing, well... everybody would have to have that file or a crash would occur, at least that i...

O_o Oooook. That made little sense.

But anyways, I dunno what the aim is here. It seems to be to extract files from Maple Story? For modding? Or admiring the sprites? Or... hm?

Edit: Just as a note I don't play the game.
