Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

I was re-writing my specs to clarify to him when I realized.. poo I do not have time for this :P maybe I was too harsh? I supplied docs, spreadsheets, answered questions and now I've posted my own work. @ganjul your getting all hyper about this, I don't get why your nit-picking my comments like that...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

I got no problem reviewing and patching up errors in the spread sheet. its just a bit confusing when I want to express my loops because they are mixing many different structures, some loops are carried out by a count. and some others are carried out until a terminator of either -1 or 0 is met beside...

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

I wish I knew dis-assembly but I don't have any experience lol :( EDIT 1.) you confuse me even more. I see no mention of that in the docs. ok lol  this gets confusing, your not dealing with just one binary format here. your dealing with two  the XPR is like a Jar of jelly beans! both t...

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

?what how the file flows? MDL >OBJ >>MTL >>MTL >>MTL >OBJ >>MTL >OBJ >OBJ >OBJ >>MTL >>MTL .... something like that, each object houses it own materials. then the control file {CAT} forces these into a common material.. thats why I said before there are less like materials, and more like elements

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

yes, I've already attempted to reassemble the objects based on the CAT. not not all objects are placed through block1, only half of the model is placed (static only) the other half is positioned in block4, but the positioning is off. importing additional data from block4 shows that there are some ve...

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

ok since you numbered your questions in the image, I'll provide answers in that order 1.) What is the Point of this? [0x80000000] the documents are wrong in some cases.. That Int is actually a XPR chunk or instruction telling the engine to continue reading at a new address if you have a look at Ninj...

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

I had a look at the DOAX XPR, its likely easier :D Only differences I can gather are 1.) Start of XPR has a file HASH for file verification 2.) OBJ block's Now Use VertexTypes 2 & 3 in my vertex line I just tossed this in; if vertextype==1 do fseek fstream 4 #seek_cur if vertextype==2 do fseek f...

I'll have a look at the DOA3 format tonight, I think only the material section is different?

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

I can't recall which source I was reading off of, there were a few... But I'm looking at DOAU, which may be simular to DOAX? anyway I uploaded this, it contains info on the vertex definitions. (the link is only temp, please save the doc for your own reference) https://viewer.zoho.com/docs/rbM0B also...

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

ok, in b0ny's notes for the material at the end of the material section he has this dword indexoffset; // index buffer - offset dword indexsize; // index buffer - num dword pad35; the last dword is not padding, its another count. but since its an unknown constant it might aswell be pad anyway 00 00 ...

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

each object gives you the vertex buffer offset and the index buffer offset, along with counts. then at the end of every material section there are 3 counts.. you need the 1st and 2nd to start and end an element the 1st count is the index to start at(from your index buffer), and the 2nd is the amount...

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]

I had an unknown amount of variables in a 128bit binary space. I had to explore every possible idea... I've seen a few games where they stored 16bit floats instead of 32bit floats. but used a 32bit float divisor or multiplier on their 16bitfloats to regain accuracy. I just thought a simular thing ma...
