Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
the object count is the same as the entry count, may be better just to note that any unlabelled or undetailed IDs, haven't been encountered yet. so they can be removed. aswell the spreadsheet exists for others to correct. so make any changes you see fit. sorry that I get the endian crossed, its easy...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
the id is 01 00 04 00 right? theres 2 IDs there 01 00 = 1 04 00 = 4 main ID is 1, and the sub ID is 4 in the first ID 00 00 00 80 the main ID is 0 and the sub ID is 128 eventually your loop will fall upon the DWORD 0xFFFFFFFF both your main and sub ID will return -1 signed, or 0xFFFF unsigned. edit ...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
OK, my bad. The integer in that offset is: 2C 00 2D 00 Right after it is this: 01 00 80 00 That's a VertBuff subid, but I don't see a "2C 00 2D 00" mainId in the docs. Maybe I don't understand mainId/subId too well. There must be a mainId first, right? your cursor is off by 4 bytes, you w...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
OK, gotcha :) But the offset which you say comes after seems to be too large. http://i39.tinypic.com/ztvgvp.png http://i40.tinypic.com/j63mnn.png Also, did you mean I should store the offset so I can return later to parse the MDL? Question, why not parse (read) it then, instead of storing the offset...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
yes thats how I interpreted the XPR I don't have the xbox dev kit to determine if this is true or not. but from observing the XPRs from NG and DOA, this would seem the case. I've had a look at the xbox360 devkit and the XPR bundler is used for making texture packages, but you can also embed your own...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
backface culling, is when you want to enable a face on both sides of the polygon. I haven't looked at DOA3 yet, but greedxplorer got the face direction wrong. so to hide that FAIL it enabled double face polygons. culling is also noted in the material block its the very last DWORD, in doa2u its alway...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
Yeah that doc could use some work. Hes a troll now. Tristrips dont look incredibly difficult to generate. But altough each triangle has 3 edges, each one of them can have infinite amount of "neigbouring" edges. Should you just choose the one with the lowest angle? So it seems the MDL bloc...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
sorry I broke the ID into two SHORTs or WORDS, instead of just labeling it as a DWORD http://i.imgur.com/yTMfD.png in the image the ID as a DWORD is 00 00 00 08 I described it as mainID = 0 subID = 8 something stupid like that... hm thats pretty cryptic lol anyway when you get to ID 00 00 00 08, the...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
parse until the ID is -1 guessing the IDs off the top of my head... 00000080 = Binary Entry 00010004 = texture dimension 00010080 = texture offset/size? 00010083 = vertex offset I said before parsing the XPR is pointless, because the 0000008 ID is always at the same area of the XPR header. and the M...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
the faces are triStrip, so your read 3, then just read one for each loop 1,2,3 2,3,4 3,4,5 4,5,6 etc but you can just read the face buffer, there are index by material. also you've posted encrypted files, I posted the source code for XPRbreaker around pages 5-7? compile that, it'll allow you to decr...

Re: Dead or Alive 3,U,X tools [download]
These are homogenous vectors that have a w component as you can see when you made the W NULL or 0 I assume it turned the vector into a direction vector moving out from the origin of the model. All that is useful here is the position x,y,z for the mesh parts so you will want to store the position fr...

@ganjul I donno if your done, done. I already explained my thoughts, and we leveled out. If you want answers, then lay them out and I'll tell you what I know you know its frustrating for me I'm trying really hard, and I'm like the only one leading the format hacking right now. I like modding and wou...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
I don't have any background or education in programming or software engineering. <_< so the bad docs are just from inexperience. I learned all of what I know just from reading others, and practicing modding games over the past 6 years. started making texture mods with paint, and here I am now thanks...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools
I had a closer look at the 4th bloc of the CAT file. I passed it off as containing joint data.. because the models in DOA are diced into objects, and the objects used for bending are detailed in this 4th bloc. Anyway this bloc consists of two parts, 1.) A vertex buffer 2.) A table there were IDs in ...
