Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

@SleepySea, nice job. Sounds like those are handy. Hopefully this doesn't come as a buzz kill unless that ends up being a more efficient method. Do you use your tools in conjunction with Blender and/or the tmcmesh import/export method? Some of the existing scripts / plugins may overlap some functio...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

I know them feels, I definitely needed a couple months off. Thankfully tool support has advanced to the point, I don't need to do much and focus on mods at least for the items I want to make still Good to see you back! I got into a bit of a coding frenzy and decided to update all of my tools to rel...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

How's everyone doing? I recently got interested in DOA5 modding again after a long hiatus and made a character transformer tool out of curiosity that turned into a few days of coding frenzy. I've finally made it work pretty well, and it seems to be in a relatively stable state to be used as a fun to...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

In the spirit of sharing, I've also released my tool here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/50997-doa5lr-timmys-private-stash-tool-updated-101015-added-tool-section/?p=1346825 It allows easy handling of normal vectors and UV maps among other mathematically interesting things. I've tried my best to expl...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

@Ros - Yes I noticed the strange shading after I attempted to get the "correct" normal vectors for your models and realized that you managed to hide certain imperfections with normal vectors, but it really is already very good and the imperfections are very hard to tell even without hiding...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

Wow, Ros is back. Ros has helped me a great deal in writing my own converter (and basically inspired me to get into this type of game modding). I hope you have had a chance to try the tool I sent you. It probably doesn't work as well as you'd like, but it's my first novice attempt at DOA5 modding, l...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

The current generation of modders are too accustomed to the comfort GUI provides and convenient scripts that import/export stuff with a few clicks I think. :)

To the metal stuff is where the real fun is. Thanks for this cool tool.

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

Ok, I sorta get it, but don't. My brain is stuck in old school DOA from when penguin first explained the vertex/index buffer lengths. Since an index is only 2 bytes the messes me up because a face would then technically be 6 bytes. But, with the shorthand I understand that redundant values are omit...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

Anyway, while modding TMC files manually , some vertices can be excluded from indices of triangles. Then the vertices will be fragmented. The fragmented vertices will cause a little problem with OBJ. Actually, it's the matter of 3DS Max. While importing OBJ file to Max, fragmented vertices will be ...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

I have a basic OBJ (from noesis export) to TMC import working (like I can shrink Lisa's bikini and export it back to TMC from blender), but I didn't spend much time on it due to the rather limiting data format for what I have been trying to do in terms of modding. OBJ is an easy format to work with ...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

*** @SkacikPL/SleepySea No one has to worry about being of a limited or different skill set. It's all about effort, even helping answer questions, writing tutorials and finding new things are all helpful. When new people come along it takes a bit of time to see who will stick around versus who show...

Re: Dead or Alive series formats and tools

Protocol X27 , SkacikPL Guess you're right, seems like I overestimated people's interest in modding. Well, it's a broad term really. Truth is that the community probably has lots of artists, to create models/textures, but little reverse engineers to provide tools or needed insight. Not that it mean...
