Re: Little extractor program

Added: Full extraction support for Monolith Games , ARCH??-files Updated: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin , BNDL-/LVBNDL-files Game info: http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/fear-2-project-origin I had to add the ARCH??-fileformat because GAUP (and maybe other unpackers) aren't able to recognize compre...

Re: Little extractor program

@stevenx And also a question, you said some game will first find if the same file exists out of the continer file. I made a test ,ND18,19 worked with the OUT files. But ND 16,17 does not worked Nancy-Drew-files is a proprietary file format (like Tomb-Raider BIG-files). That means the programmers not s...

Re: Little extractor program

@stevenx It would not be the best to XOR the DCP-header. As a very lazy man I would do the following: - Extract all container files to somewhere. - Create a list file of all extracted files like this: dir /b /s >FILELIST.TXT - In this text file search for the target with a text editor. If you found ...

Re: Little extractor program

@stevenx In general, once an extraction module works flawlessly, I will have deleted the game, shelved my source code and forgotten it. I would not recommend to change filenames in a container file: The game might not gain access to predefined ressources. I would recommend to leave the original file...

Re: usually wich tools has been used for discovering file codes

I use HIEW from a russian developer. With its ASCII-like window-view it simplifies the view of a file structure.
010EDITOR is too sophisticated for me because if I had to write a script for this editor I would have written a complete procedure for my program.

Problem with PAK-files: Hard To Be A God / Specnaz 2

I want to unpack PAK-files from these two games: "Hard To Be A God" and "Specnaz 2". Both games use a similar file format with XOR-encryption. The general structure of a PAK-file is: <HEADER> (XORed)<NUMBER_OF_FILES><FILE_TABLE_WITH_OFFSETS_AND_LENGTHS> <DATA_AREA> The filetable is XORed with a key ...

Re: Little extractor program

@stevenx: In Nancy Drew 16,17,the pic file format is like some raw bmp file. It seems the picture format is TGA with transparency information. Simply use your favorite image processing software or a picture browser to handle this format. How to convert cif file to TGA picture? A CIF-file might be a ...

Re: Serious Request considering a 360 container file, ......

Could you upload it to RS/MU/MS/NL or something? "Filefront" uses dangerous ACTIVEX which I don't want to use. The size doesn't matter.

Re: Little extractor program

Added: Extraction support for Nancy Drew This is based on this post: http://aluigi.freeforums.org/help-with-autotext-cif-in-lzss-compressed-t716.html bugtest wrote a fine utility for testing the modified LZSS-(de-)compression. Without it I wouldn't never have found out this algorithm. There is a "si...

Re: I need you help for Nancy Drew series .dat and .cif files

I have written an unpacker for "Nancy Drews". It is in BETA-Status and extracts "TREE"-files only.
I will release a complete version within the next days. Stay tuned.

Re: DAT files

I don't know this program but it seems to be commercial malware: http://www.file.net/process/ctxfispi.exe.html For me it seems these data-files contain some registry data converted in a special way. Besides it appears to be some kind of copy-protection. Maybe the programmers decided to not to burden...

AGS file format description

I was asked by private message to publish the file format for AGS (Adventure Game studio). This format has a lot of dependencies and can't be described as a "format" directly, but rather as an algorithm. May this description help you. General container file structure [INSTALL_EXE_DATA] ;EXE to insta...

Re: Requesting Assistance w/ Hostile Waters mbx archives

The problem is: The sound-data is stored in an MBX-file and the associated indexes are stored in a corresponding DAT-file. There are no file-names stored there, but only "hints", so it is difficult to make "links" between these two corresponding files. Edit: The MBX-files are PCM wave data files act...

Re: Requesting Assistance w/ Hostile Waters mbx archives

Just look for this link: http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3081 I have written an extractor for the .MNG-format a long time ago. Just download the latest version. Edit: The .MBX-files seem to contain only sounds with special compiled data. To recompile these files it is needed to create a...
