there is a goto command if its only in the header you can say like
goto 0x20
but if its in a loop and say you read 5 int values but only the first or last 2 are usefull its faster to do
getdstring null 0xXX
otherwise you would have to do
savepos tmp
math tmp + XX
goto tmp

I found the problem with this format and why you had issues. mario sent me the files you sent him and i looked at the 360 files. The meshes have different counts for verts, normals, uv's The key to making them line up is the buffer after the faces. this contains 6 bytes and is = to the highest face ...

seems normal to me i just skip the 2nd 2 face buffers and it seems to load fine.

they look like normal triangle lists. i think you are just starting at the wrong offset. after the name right before the face data you need to skip 2 bytes. then you read 6 bytes * the count they gave you. then they give another count as a long. and you read 6 bytes * that count. this part seems kin...

There is now ps2 vif tag support in noesis. It is only exposed to the dll side of things right now but it is on the roadmap to be added to python. Once it is added into python I should be able to code up a noesis plugin for this.

its not possible on ps3 until someone removes the file check-sum for the models.

the file you say looks compressed is just a mdl0 or bress model file inside that archive.
the same format used is super smash brothers brawl and a lot of other wii games.
