Re: Model formats are getting easier?

Pre canned like chrrox said. Before everyone had to write their own game engine, so formats were designed for the engine. Modern games are based on generic game engines so the format is similar/identical for alot of games. Seems to be a affecting the trend in jobs advertised as well. They used to wa...

Re: Minecraft - fancy a game?

Minecraft wasn't made by a business man Obviously!!! A games business model is just as important as the game itself. The game itself might be the best game ever invented, wouldn't know though, took one look at the 'buy it now, or download and play a different game' screen and left. Persistent world...

Re: Daz3D just went crazy.

Not ball mouse, keep wearing the cable out!!! If you look in the plugin 'boneplug' directory there are samples for keynote, there's also a make_anc.dll that should go in the create folder (seem to need triangles only or it won't work, like the vacum plugin). Found an english version of the plugin, l...

Re: Daz3D just went crazy.

No keynote doesn't need docs, download samples and look at them.
I'm sure there is a basic tut for it out there, can't surf much to look for it, my mouse died.

Re: Daz3D just went crazy.

LOL The offer is open till 14th - according to when the download link runs out. Dunno if that's before 14th. Wanted hexagon2 for ages, now I got it, it's a bit crap. IMO. Metasequoia is better than hexagon2. (Blatant plug for my Metasequoia docs:- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/papermodels/meta/index....

It's bak1.FSKEL. offset 3908 (decimal)
Think they are all the same in the ones I have.

Re: [Request] Loong

Sorta found a hierarchy for the skeleton, it's in the numbers after the names, no idea how it works mind. Was a bit confusing coz the number of bones x 16 was the chunk size for that data. Don't know what the extra 0's are at the end. Makes some sense, the second column goes 0 to num_bones and the e...

Re: [Request] Loong

Yeah, I think they are animation frames, but I don't really know how they work. 5th byte in the header gives the number of frames. Header also gives the offset for the start of the frames. Each frame seems to consists of: 62616B31 "bak1" - always the same as the file name 7F00 - num_bones 00 - dunno...

Re: Vertex colors

The most practical use for them i've found is for adding color to a textured model prior to render baking. If your not that artistic, it's possible to produce a more professional looking texture from a simple bland texture. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff428/codex34/general/tms1.jpg http://i1...

Re: [Request] Loong

There's way too much info in the Fskel files to be just skeleton data. Also the 'skeleton' is identical in all 5 Fskel files I have. Looking at it with the data visualizer in hex workshop, you can clearly see large chunks which are about 3k each, reckon this is the animation files for the characters...

Re: [Request] Loong

Awesomeness.
Didn't notice that about the integer being vertex offsets.
The face direction looks intermittent, even on some fsm models the faces are wrong way around.
I'll have a look see if it's model type.

Re: [Request] Loong

Lol - i just tried it with half floats, came out very nice. Guess you been doing the rapi.rpgBindPositionBufferOfs(vertBuff, noesis.RPGEODATA_FLOAT, 32, 0) type thing with 11 instead of 22..... That'll make it read crap if you use 11. So basically it's the same vertex format as the fsm files that us...

Re: [Request] Loong

Half floats don't, having your scale set to 100 does that, silly me. No, it's 11 shorts, chunk size given is half the actual chunk size. Using ints, I put that second set of data in, it's 6 bytes per vertex, I got very similar results, the corners of a cube distribution of points. I noticed though t...
