Re: Battlefield 3: Sounds recording technique

You guys are a lot more experienced than I, so I'm sure you'll have no problem. One thing I should mention for those going after gun sounds is this: Unlike BC & BC2, BF3 dynamically mixes multiple sounds together to create what you hear in the game. In terms of in game audio, the method they employ...

Re: Battlefield 3: Sounds recording technique

Oh, I thought it was impossible to convert the sounds. Too bad for me I don't have XBOX360 version of this game for the moment to check it out.

Re: Battlefield 3: Sounds recording technique

[DEPRECATED] NOTE: This is a fallback solution if you can't extract Battlefield 3 sounds with the way explained in the links below ( from " durandal217 " ). All right, I uploaded a commented YouTube video for that technique, because it's kind of hard to explain by writing. ( I prefer to prevent you...

Frostbite 2 sound extraction research

Wop mates, I really don't know if I'm in the good place for that subject but I would ask you something. As you can know, it's impossible to extract Battlefield 3 sounds for the moment and two days ago, I found a little trick in Battlefield 3 which allowed me to record ( by StereoMix configuration ) ...

Re: [PC] Crysis 3 sounds converting problem

Already working on adding support for FSB5 to vgmstream Oh, all right. Any link to follow the development state? EDIT: Okay, so vgmstream seems to convert some ADPCM files to correct .wav files but it doesn't convert them properly for the others ( get messed files, again ). Maybe because of stereo ...

[PC] Crysis 3 sounds converting problem

Hi mates, I would know if you can help me here. I unpacked " Sound.pak " with the PakDecrypt from this topic . Next, I extracted sounds from FSB files with this tool but it giving me messed files ( with any arguments, surely because of ADPCM format or something ). Later, I found something interestin...

I see. But what's wrong with this type of file exactly?

Re: Extract audio out off -> .XXX files

I tried to extract " Aud_Weapons_All_SoundRiot_stream.xxx " ( from PC ) via Umodel with this command line: umodel.exe -sounds Aud_Weapons_All_SoundRiot_stream.xxx pause and the console told me this: "C:\Umodel>umodel.exe -sounds Aud_Weapons_All_SoundRiot_stream.xxx Found 5 game files (7 skipped) ***...

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 1 .res convert problem

Ah, so " Patience " is the big word :].

It's a pity that we can't detect the good offset via a code line in the .BAT converter ( like if -o 0x00 don't work, try next offset, again and again until find what we need ). Anyway, thank's a lot again for your good help.

Good luck in the future.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 1 .res convert problem

Yeah I know, this time I found that by myself  but thank's anyway.

But one last question run in my head. How did you find hex from those .RES by yourself? I mean just with HxD? Because there is truly a logic that I don't know about find offset.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 1 .res convert problem

All right, thank's. I'll go deeper in my research.

EDIT: You give me very a good clue here. The offset was 0x00 so before the stereo flag. Many thank's and good luck for your projects.

Hope I didn't waste your time.

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 1 .res convert problem

I tried what you said but the 0x2C hex don't work with a bunch of sounds in Streaming_sounds00.fbrb ( for example ) that don't have the BB 80 hex nor AC 44 ( can't get any .WAV file at all because this is not the right offset apparently ). Here a screenshot of one of those .RES file: " Explosion_XXL...

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 1 .res convert problem

All right, thank's mate for the advice. Another little question please: in certains .res files, the hex BB 80 00 don't exist. Does it mean that there is not sound in it? ( A little info: In other files ( where BB 80 hex is not available ), I found the AC 44 hex that apparently worked ). Many regards...

Re: Battlefield Bad Company 1 .res convert problem

Second you may not be looking for the right offset. If by default you are getting those types of errors it means there are no audio files, or the wrong offset was entered. remember to search for BB 80 00 for single wav files or BB 80 00 00 skip two bytes and the following 00 will be your offset for...
