Both files you provided are container files with additional compressed information inside the container. Is it at all possible you could provide the .forge file these files were obtained from.
I'll attempt to de-compress these files, but the complete .forge file would be a quicker option.

The texture files are actually header-less DDS files. I haven't been able to find anything other than that. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to accomplish what you want. Its pretty much a trial and error process. The forge file has never been fully discovered, I've been working on it off ...

Guys, I have tried using MAKI with Assassin's Creed 2 files but all I get when I try to extract anything is !Aborting... Possible Sound File. Could anyone tell me how to remedy this... I really want to dive into this content and try playing around with replicating some of the locations in Maya and ...

Are you selecting the area you want to be transparent prior to saving. I know when making transparent pngs, I use the Magic Wand Tool to select the area I want to be transparent prior to saving. I don't usually make my own textures, so I'm not sure if DDS works the same way.
