Textures. Graphics. And the like --> Wiki

Hi all, It would be swell if you could not only figure out new texture formats etc here at the forums, but also post the specs of these at the Game File Format Central http://wiki.xentax.com ! This way there will be a repository of known texture formats, that may save future time of investigation, w...

john_doe wrote:Yes, I'll try to make this one as a plugin.
I had a quick peek at the Delphi units, seems not too hard.
Maybe I'll also write plugins for the other archives I made explorers for (Titan Quest, Secret Files Tunguska etc.)
Awesome! 8)

# MexScript for Star Crusader *.GL files # by Mr.Mouse # There is something odd at the back of the GL file # I investigated. There is a pointer to a tail, # along with the number of filenames, that fits the # tail section starting from the pointer nicely. # However, before that pointer there seem t...

john_doe wrote:Hi, me yet again :)
I downloaded the demo and had a look at the files. The directory is Huffman compressed. I've located the decompression code in the exe, so it's again probably just a matter of time.
Could this be a trial for a Rahly's PM MexCom plugin? ;) ;)

Okay, here's a plugin for MexCom. Just copy it to the plugins/pak folder of MexCom. This will open Spellforce PAK files and extract files for you. It was actually a simple format. // Header byte {3} - Magic Word "PAK" byte - Version number ? uint32 - Offset to tail uint32 - Uncompressed si...

Yes, so, this part is then the compressed tail.

Uncompressed size would have to be 621553 bytes.

I like the idea, but I haven't had time to really consider your work yet, to see potential pitfalls or advantages other than those you mention. However, it seems you might want to check out http://hachoir.org/ as this is a tool that is similar to your idea and far in development I believe. I am real...

By exploring with a Hex editor.

The other ARC files you can also open with the plugin, I've seen them and they are SARC files, which are supported . Those do have filenames.

Open a new text file and rename it to run.bat. Then edit it so it contains this line: FOR %%F IN (*.*) DO ( delzw.exe %%F %%F.dec ) This will scan the current directory for all files and attempt to decompress them to <filename>.dec Make sure delzw.exe is in the same dir as the batch file. So go to t...

Well, I can always try to get hold of some source code for you, if you're interested. I'll ask Rahly.

Actually, John_doe, Rahly wrote a plugin manager that enables anyone to create a plugin for MexCom, with Non-activeX dll's. MexCom has two types of plugins. ActiveX (PGN) and those that work via Rahly's Plugin Manager (RPM). Theoretically, instead of writing a command line tool, you could also write ...

know the plugin works! great work! But what can i do with the *.mex files? That's up to you. As there are no filenames available, they have just generic names. *.mex just means that MexCom was used to extract them. You should now find out what they are. But that is entirely up to you and others tha...
