Re: Zork Nemesis/Zork Grand Inquisitor Image (TGA) Format
Okay, try this version. I was right, and I should have rotated the bitmap data before creating the bmp file. Now all pictures come out right. Please show the outcome of the previous example you used to point out the misalignment!

Re: Zork Nemesis/Zork Grand Inquisitor Image (TGA) Format
Well, thats just a minor problem, considering the effort that was put in the work. I think the executable rotates the imagedata. In BMP files image data is stored "upside down". I don't rotate the data, but just put it in the .BMP files. I'll see if I can change that in unTGZ when I get th...

Re: Zork Nemesis/Zork Grand Inquisitor Image (TGA) Format
I had to get some time, but here's the low down. I took a look at the assembly code and found the decompress routine. I then realized that it was standard LZSS compression. The executable uncompresses the bitmap data and fills in a BITMAPHEADER to show the actual .BMP file (not TGA). So basically, t...

Re: Speaking of games...
Just for the record, that "Unnamed" person wasn't me. ;) But I remember we looked all over the house, to find him (perhaps he was just getting fresh beers :D), but then realised he wasn't in the house. We traced his footsteps (it was snowing at the time) from the porch to the lightpost on ...

Re: tracker music
I've contacted Gergely, the man who converted those tunes to MOD ;) Turns out he has the converter and source code at his website: http://sgate.iit.bme.hu/patai/programs/ I've attached mus2mod at this post as well. :D mus2mod.zip Here is some additional info that he'd like to bring forward: The tric...

Re: What's your favorite game soundtrack?
Oh and if you're looking for XeNTaX's C64 tunes: http://soasc.dirtcellar.net/ Search for Releaser: Xentax. Mind that you have to pick the right SID chip for the sound to be the way we created those tunes. The 6581 was the old one and had a number of revisions. The R2 and R4 were common, but had diff...

Re: tracker music
Okay , a little update. The pattern information is sometimes similar to .MOD, e.g. 4 channel columns of 64 rows. (each channel is 4 bytes and in sequence). Except when the rows are mostly empty, Karl has build in some kind of compression. The rows are simply saved in a .mod file, but Karl was smart,...

Re: tracker music
Okay so far this is what I think the SONG format from Karl is: // SONG format (Karl Morton) HEADER Magic Word (4) "SONG" uint32 Offset of sample data char {32} Song name of 32 bytes in length // Sample information (1-31), sequential, 34 bytes in length char {32} Sample name of 32 bytes in ...

Re: tracker music
"PC Music/FX System" (c) Karl Morton 1994 That's the programmer of the tracker format. Karl Morton of Team17 (also of Worms 2 fame). This info is in the exe of Psycho Pinball. So you could stalk him if you'd like. What I've learned from the .mus file is that it is simply an archive contain...
