Re: smackdown vs raw 2010

That is great news then! :D That gives you guys much more freedom to create whatever you wish, and you are not bound to any specific in-game palette.

Re: smackdown vs raw 2010

Excellent! :D Thanks a bundle for your post, man! I'll update the program some more soon. It can now also save and load palettes, that should help. [EDIT] After re-reading your post, it would seem that you don't need to use the build in palettes in painttool, right? You can create any picture with a...

What game's on your computer today?

Perhaps we sometimes can get a break from the file format analyses and play an actual game. What game is on your computer or on your console at the moment? Mine are King's Bounty (PC) and Dragon Age (PC), while I have Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for the NDS. When I have an hour to spare I sometim...

Re: Need a reason to join this forum? Check here!

Well, I haven't tracked them anymore, if I see one that is funny, I'll post it. Most of them are quite acceptable, really.

Re: Def Jam Bitmap and .colours files

I think these textures are colour modulated in a way. This technique would enable an original image to be stored in less bytes, while retaining a sufficient resolution if you need to show the texture larger on screen. When plotted on screen the source cell colour is taken and put in an algorithm to ...

Re: Def Jam Bitmap and .colours files

I don't know about that. Could be, but not for sure. At least the above method succesfully mods the game.

Re: Def Jam Bitmap and .colours files

Okay, a little progress. 1. I used MultiEx Commander to extract compressed BIG files from the non-compressed ASSETCMN.BIG file. 2. It gave me the tr1.big file that I opened with BigGUI and extracted the tr1.ssh file from. 3. I wrote a little program that created a test palette and picture to replace...

Re: Def Jam Bitmap and .colours files

I've borrowed the game now and it sort of works on thepcsx2 emulator, so I can check some in-game textures and compare with the files. Using PT Explorer I could at least confirm that the 4th byte is an alpha (tranparency) value, but I'm unsure what the colours are. I see that each ssh file is accomp...

Re: smackdown vs raw 2010

Thanks, but the problem is the same. If you want to save as an 8-bit. indexed BMP (what we need) then the palette is 32-bit per colour, but the last byte is always 0 and not the actual alpha value of that colour. In the game the palette format is B G R A , but if you want to have alpha channels in P...

Re: Def Jam Bitmap and .colours files

Also, it would help if you have a screenshot of textures in action, so we can compare the real colours. Is that possible?

Re: Def Jam Bitmap and .colours files

I see your point. There's somethinh going on with the palette. The 4th byte of each colour goes up only to 128 and not 256 as a "true" alpha channel.
