Re: Heroes of Might and Magic 1

Well, the format still has some more tricks that my converter does not tackle yet, I will have to do some more thinking about the properties of some images that don't come out right. The method is a nice way of compressing bitmaps obsiously, as a 4K compressed image is about 12K decompressed.

Re: Heroes of Might and Magic 1

Okay, so the palettes are standard rgb (768 bytes) of 256 in total. However, there are for each sprite model only 127 colours to use. The palette files (.pal) have something like a right shifted RGB values. Left shifting them again gives a 97% accurate palette. image2_elfstd.raw.bmp.png gargoyle.std...

Re: smackdown vs raw 2010

Well, as so many people got it to work, there should be something that we are missing. Try upload a .PT file BEFORE updating it with a new file, and AFTER udating it. Also, DO NOT use Slot 0.

Re: Heroes of Might and Magic 1

Ok, I had to have some time to take a look at it. It is beginning to make sense now. I will move this to the Graphics Format forum, where it belongs. Anyway, the files of the sprites contain frames for standing (std), walking (wlk) and attacking (atk), right? Right. it starts off with a table that t...

Re: Dream Zone .DZI .MWI files

Yes, I've now seen it too. It looks likethe palette differs much more per picture. Unfortunately, it may even be decided in the executable, as I've not seen any reference to any palette in the picture files themselves.

You tell me, perhaps they don't realize they can actually post themselves, or they can't be bothered: your easy to fill in form may help them cross the line :)

Re: [PC] Fear2 Tools

Okay, but can you give me any estimate of time that you think you'll need? Problem is it would be silly to go through the threads and upload tools in the blog as it is now when there might be a replacement soon. :)

Re: Dream Zone .DZI .MWI files

Use the converter to create a picture with one of the four palettes. Then load the resulting BMP in Photoshop. The BMP has the palette, right? So you can save the .act file yourself, this way you can get all four palettes as act files. The vga palette is not only for the title screen, but for most o...
