Phantom Breaker (XOR encryption)

I recently began looking at files from Phantom Breaker hoping that I'd be able to get sprites quickly but was disappointed when I was confronted with a whole load of gibberish when I opened the file. But after some examination with GGD I noticed that the data seemed to fall into patterns anyway, and...

Re: King of Fighters 2002 (PS2)

I threw up a few more examples as a reference, I think I'm getting somewhere. http://www.justnopoint.com/lbends/junk/kyotiles1.bin http://www.justnopoint.com/lbends/junk/2k2kyo1.bin http://www.justnopoint.com/lbends/junk/kyotiles10.bin http://www.justnopoint.com/lbends/junk/2k2kyo10.bin Seems like 0...

Re: King of Fighters 2002 (PS2)

Slight update, I figured out part of the header. First four bytes is some kind of signature, every sprite starts the same way. The next four bytes are Tile size? Width (in tiles) Height (in tiles) Unknown After that is a bitwise map of the sprite (Width) bytes in length such that starting from the h...

King of Fighters 2002 (PS2)

Just trying to figure out how the sprites are compressed. Later SNK games store sprite data as tiles which are assembled later, so I actually have a compressed sprite and an uncompressed one for comparison.

Edit: I made an error and included the wrong files, sorry. Reuploaded with the correct ones.

Finding a palette - (Power Instinct Matrimelee)

I've created a viewer for the game Power Instinct Matrimelee (Shin Ichizoku Gouketsuji - Bonno no Kaiho) which shows sprites and collision boxes, but curiously I was never able to find the palettes it uses. My usual approach is opening up binary data as image data to see if anything looks like a pal...

Re: Arcana Heart 3 Pac/Pk3 Files

Arcade pk3s are compressed. First you read in two bytes as compression flags. Start from the highest bit. For each 0, read in two bytes and add them to the output buffer. For each 1 read in two bytes again, but use the lower 12 bytes as an offset from the end of the output buffer to start copying da...

Re: Arcana Heart 3 Pac/Pk3 Files

Believe me the PAC format is the same, you just have to change to big endian when dealing with 360 files. As for PK3 files, the ones in the console ports are the frame data files. No compression whatsoever. Now if we were talking about the arcade dump... Oh and I apologize, but not everything on my ...

Dark Awake .msf Audio Files

Using a new tool released on PSGroove I've extracted files from the PS3 PSN game Dark Awake and I've come across audio with an identifier string MSFC I've looked on this forum and I saw a few posts that involved converting the header to .at3 and installing the ATRAC3 codec but it did not work. I als...

Re: request a tutorial

I'm very confused about the whole concept of LZ compression, there are numerous guides including here that go into a fair amount of detail especially with the theory, but I would like to at least have a practical example to look at. http://wiki.xentax.com/index.php/LZSS There's pseudocode but no exa...

Disregard my post as SkyBladeCloud has the correct answer. I'm pretty new to this myself.

Re: [PS3] BfPk compression

Ok here's what I figured out, all numbers are in big endian: 4 bytes - Signature 12 bytes - Header Data (unknown) Begin file table 4 bytes - File Offset (From end of file table) 4 bytes - File Size 4 bytes - Filler 2 bytes - File entry length (M) 2 bytes - Filename length (N) 1 byte - Filler N bytes...

Re: [PS3] BfPk compression

You can see filenames in plaintext, this is not a compressed file. If anything that's a file table with offsets/filesizes.
Do you know how to use QuickBMS, did you try it at all?

Re: PS3 dds file.

I'm afraid I don't quite have a solution for you yet but when I look at the files they all seem to begin the same/similarly. I bet it's a simple XOR scheme, though for some reason each file changes the header slightly... tb250_00_n.dds especially has a lot of repetitive data in the header, if it is ...

Guilty Gear compressed image format (All of them?)

Well this is my first time posting here but I'll try to be as concise as possible. A friend and I are building a frame display tool for this game and we have encountered a compressed image format in the game's files. http://ggxx.wingdreams.net/ the game can be downloaded here, for reference. All gam...
