Yeah that's the best approach for encryption/compression.

I don't get your point. This function converts a granny file into some raw format, so what do you mean?

Nice, uses a different approach than the granny reader above. What format do the files decompressed by this one have? Can they be read with 3DS? I think the biggest problem is to get data back to granny format because there are probably no functions for that in the dll. The good news is that they do...

Re: Psychonauts PS2 .PAK Archive

I havent been able to find a name directory anywhere. Perhaps the filenames are compressed/encrypted? The level pack files dont contain information about their own filename so I would assume that the names for the level archives are stored somewhere. They don't have to be saved in the file, a hash ...

Yes, but I'd really like to know if there are some scripts by other users, has nothing to do with my aversion, I'm just curious. ;)

Yeah, I wonder how many scripts have been written by someone else than Mr.Mouse or Watto.

Just search for the string (in unicode) in the exe and replace it. The problem is, that your translated string has to be less than or equal in length to the original one.

does the main exe of a game help to unpack his scheme? The normal exe doesn't help cause the copy protection encrypts and compresses the file. Only a No-CD exe would be of interest. i dont believe you dont know about assembly as you do program i'm unable to do myself you're too modest! :) "Nor...

Yeah, but I doubt that such people are able to figure out a file format. ;)

It depends on which scripting language is used. The one Mex Commander uses is indeed improper cause it is complicated and restricted. If you have a struct like in C

Code: Select all

struct header {
int a;
byte b[64];
int c;
}
you can directly read out the structure of the file and every C programmer understands it.

cool. do you still know which board this was?
I managed to write a working decryptor on my own in the meantime but if there already is an encryptor that's of course even better. :D
