Re: Best Game engines
unity appears to be very daunting, as one has to start from zero. or I am mistaken? those rpg kits look handy, but they cost.... Hmm i suppose it depends what you mean by that, I'd say you start from zero in more or less every game engine ever. Though in unity you do have some built in functions li...

Re: Best Game engines
thanks for the complete answer. what bugs is is mostly that Unity appears not to be Multithreaded. plus, since you've been using it for a while, have you ever used one of those "kits"? is there one you recommend for RPG? my personal sources of inspiration Planescape Torment Eternal Darkne...

Re: Best Game engines
Outside of my first question of 'Are you good enough to make something that takes an entire 100+ person company several years to produce?' Will you be doing the art or only the programming? As for engines, I'd personally recommend unity, I've been using it myself for 2 years now, I've also used UDK ...

Re: Final Fantasy IX World Map viewer Source Code
ok, understand. The whole 0.map being "the sample". :D With this cleared out here is what I got so far reading data from 0.map by stepping through WorldMapSource.txt (in mind): WorldGridW= 24 WorldGridH= 20 V1=2 (seek > 0x1000) -> function loadSetka2(fil,1,1,13) tmp1= 0x1000 ffs%=524548 p...

Re: Final Fantasy IX World Map viewer Source Code
I'm surprised this hasn't had more interest honestly. Well, ok, then let's share some thoughts on this. :) It's good (but not enough) to upload some files on a request. I had a look into WorldMapSourece.txt . So this seems part of loading a mesh: For i=0 To 3 SeekStream fl,tmp1+mesh[i] numvert=Read...

I'll keep the files in my dropbox for a few more weeks so anyone can take them if they want, after than I'll likely remove them.

Re: Rayman Legends .IPK
Would it be possible at all for you to expand on that at all, sorry if I sound stupid here, but I'm having trouble applying your findings to the old Rayman Origins BMS script. The old Origins BMS script was for the PS3 version. The script I posted in my previous post is for the PC version of Rayman...

Final Fantasy IX World Map viewer Source Code
Hey Guys For quite some time now this FF9 World Map viewer made by Zidane on the Quimm forums has been floating around. Link to that, plus Source is here:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/azf19y7homu8qnj/u-JOQibN1q The issue is that the source is in Blitz3D, a piece of software I know absolutely nothing wh...

Re: Rayman Legends .IPK
Hm...very cool! I managed to unpack the entirety of the PC Bundle file, but unfortunately as with Rayman Origins the blasted image files are corrupt, and the Origins converter doesn't seem to work with them. Oh it's quite easy to extract the images from the PC version of Legends. The CKD header is ...

Re: Señor Casaroja's Noesis
Adding support for FF8's world map format wouldn't be inherently complex, it would just require figuring the format out. Assuming no one else has already. I'm sure it would be a fraction of the effort that figuring out the battle model and animation format was, but it's not really on my radar becau...

Re: Dragons Crown .ftx .mbs & bsb files
your link is to a zip named "music as requested" with some random mp3's. please post a proper link to the ftx's.:) Sorry, I deleted the FTX files after obtaining the working Noesis script on how to view them. If I know why you need the ftx files then I may be able to reupload one or 2 of ...

Re: Señor Casaroja's Noesis
I did some stuff today. -4.0861 - Changed behavior of export dialog so that it stays open and allows re-exporting without closing. -4.086 - Added a new preference in the data viewer, "Persistent settings->Other->Default preview commands". Adding stuff to this string will cause it to be ex...

Re: Request: Final Fantasy XIII-2 extract sound
The same script from FFXIII works on FFXIII-2 also, its here in the forums, itmight not actually be the EXACT same script, but there is a Noesis plugin for XIII-2.
When you say sound however, do you mean soundtrack or do you mean sound effects?

Re: Dragons Crown .ftx .mbs & bsb files
Windows update made me loose all my notes and i don't care much for this game so here this lets you load the raw textures. So this only extracts the textures as untiled, with no coordinates, etc? It lets you view them as texture sheets in Noesis, export them from there. The 'cordinates' in Vanillaw...

Re: Dragons Crown .ftx .mbs & bsb files
I have the format figured out for the texture files. all the texture files are tiled and useless without their related other files that store the coordinates and frames. all the textures are dxt 3 or 5. I have the coordinate system mapped out i just need to assemble it when i get time. I see, are t...
