Re: Video tutorials on model formats reversing
Ah ok, I was expecting too much advanced tooling for reverse engineering. I figured since there are file rippers that can (deep) scan unknown files for headers of possible known resources contained therein (i.e. wav/voc/MP3/png/etc) and extract them, having such a pattern searching/highlighting feat...

Re: Far Cry Primal models
Nice! it really does look much like the older Far Cry modding. :) Speaking of the dpv compressed file, FC3 is again present: <Archetype ArchetypeId="7660420242520" hidArchetypeResId="entityarchetypeslibrary\7660420242520.ark.fcb" Name="WeaponProperties:FC3/MP5" /> In case you want a filelist diction...

Re: Far Cry Primal models
if you could unpack the patch.fat/.dat then it would be possible to get the oasisstrings.bin (for localization), right? Yep, that's what I'm expecting, along with more insight in the NomadObjects file for future modding. I'm even hoping to find something that may counteract Far Cry 4's LOD pixelati...

Re: Far Cry Primal models
So now its time to decide. I have lots of other projects in queue. I can do something quick now, but that will not be much, just some simple solution if it works. If you want better tools, you have to wait until I finish other projects. Seeing time is a factor, I'd already be very much interested i...

Re: Video tutorials on model formats reversing
Yes I know 010 editor can be useful for beginners. But it will not ease anything for me. I don't see how it can make video shorter. I don't know 010 editor much, I just assumed the Inspector would be handy, as you can skip the 'windows calculator' bit (all values the hex can translate to are in the...

Re: Far Cry Primal models
couple of examples of data files Yay, success! Dunia Tools converts the fcb just fine! As for the material bin file, I don't think I (or other FC modders) know what/how to edit that file further. But both filenames ring a bell in terms of Far Cry modding! Here's the fcb converted to XML, it defines...

Re: Video tutorials on model formats reversing
Awesome! For myself, personally, I'm thinking a tutorial on how to go about identifying compression/data format of game files, making use of QuickBMS scripting and/or specifically using 010 Editor for hex editing and its scripting could help me get more insights. I specifically mention 010 Editor, b...

Re: Far Cry Primal models
// note: this conversation is a continuation of the post at http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?p=126135#p126135 Far Cry *.dat/fat pairs unpack to smaller files. So what if I just unpack *.dat/fat pairs into smaller files? Will you be able to use your dunia tools then? I can send you some unpacke...

Re: watch dogs 2 .dat .fat archive?
// Excuse me, this topic is going beyond Watch Dogs 2 a bit. Didn't want to hijack the thread. -bouvrie Also, how can you say its "not different from Far Cry 4", when no single file was decompressed? It can be very different. And it usually is. Sorry, I'm looking at this from a game modder's perspe...

Re: watch dogs 2 .dat .fat archive?
Yes, I checked that before, and compression is the same. I will not update Dunia2 tools. I can make my own tool. Wow, that would be really cool! Though I'd imagine it being quite some more work to support all features of the Dunia2 toolchain (Unpack, ConvertBinaryObject: decompiling binary files to...

Re: watch dogs 2 .dat .fat archive?
about the compression, this is the same problem Aluigi came across when unpacking another Ubisoft title, Far Cry: Primal. It also uses LZMA and an unknown LZ4. So that's something to keep in mind, perhaps some clues can be found in one game to benefit the other... http://www.zenhax.com/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Far Cry Primal fat/dat
Would you happen to have made some progress on this? From the files I've been given access to it seems like dunia2-r179_b116 (from 2015) supports unpacking the sound datfiles. None of the others though, According to https://www.janne252.com/blog/view/id/3/title/first-look-at-far-cry-primal-and-its-m...

Re: Far Cry 4 fat/dat
Hi, I'm looking for a way to Unpack/Pack Far Cry 4 fc4maps. The Dunia2 tools (Gibbed.FarCry3.CustomMap[Pack/Strip/Unpack]) only work on .fc3maps, would you happen to know a way?
I'm also interested in viewing FC3/4's heightmap.raw and holemap.raw, still got that on my list too.

Re: [REQ] PC Eradicator (c) 1996 Accolade
Well Darkfox, I've been toying with TiledGGD some more and I still can't reproduce the results you presented. However, in my case it seems like the MENUPAL does the trick, whereas the RED palette doesn't: RED palette: http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/1192/redpal.jpg MENUPAL palette: http://img410....

Re: [REQ] PC Eradicator (c) 1996 Accolade
Was that palette correct? The monster seemed correctly shown, it was zoomed in though. And I adjusted height/width. And I think I used the core RED palette in 3-byte format. I can see the settings in that screenshot. :) And actually I don't recall the graphics being THAT good in the game, I assumed...
