Sims 1 .arc Files

Does anyone know of a BMS script for Sims 1 PS2 archives? I've tried probably every single script I could find around here but I could only get the Bustin Out script to work on the QUICKDAT archive. I'm looking to extract audiostr.arc and SAMPLES.ARC. You can find one of them below. https://drive.go...

If you use Interleaved DVI as the codec, stereo, sample rate 44100 and the interleave is 0x80, then it will play :-)
Thank you so much (again)! :]

IMA ADPCM (The Sims Bustin' Out)

I've poked around a bit and it seems that the music from this game is some kind of headerless IMA ADPCM. Converting with sox results in a distorted/slow mess, and it refuses to output anything but mono anyway. You can find a sample below. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Mgw_yp2a9I2vdanTKmOkXSzpKT32...

Re: .HZL Archives (Desperate Housewives)

Thanks! I managed to retrieve the music using an OGG extractor.

.HZL Archives (Desperate Housewives)

Has anyone ever encountered this format? Judging by the results of a quick Google search, it's completely undocumented. The game was made by Liquid Entertainment, but I'm not sure whether any other of their games ever used the same engine. Here is a link to the music archive (I hope this is allowed)...

Re: Can anyone decode this file?

Just use MFAudio, worked for me. Note that any file you gonna work with on MFAudio must have an extension (just invent one, i.e. .h, .bestextensionever). It is mono (1 channel), no offsets, and I am unsure if the frequency is 22050 or 32000hz, but if you've played the game, you probably can know by...

Can anyone decode this file?

Hey, I apologise about spamming this forum with my posts, but I've got another issue. I'm trying to extract music from a PS2 game and most of it is in a readable format. I've managed to get PSound to convert most of it, but the loading music is different somehow. PSound cannot read it, VGMStream doe...

Re: Encoder for EA ADPCM?

I forgot add that one reason EA game may crash when replacing sounds with another format can also be that like in many games, they use a 'streaming' kind of a way of storage so headers/some relevant info of files are in one place and the actual audio data in other and when you go replace the actual...

Re: Encoder for EA ADPCM?

Correct, FFMPEG will only decode XAS and the guy who did that particular decoding code considers the EA ADPCM codecs real crap which they are given ADPCM dates from phone lines from 80s and we have far superior audio codecs these days but EA keeps clinging to the past just like using MP3 (1992) wit...

Re: Encoder for EA ADPCM?

ealayer3 (v.0.7.0) does encode in various EA formats, but I am not sure if they are the ones you want, tho according to this website http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Sims_3:0x01A527DB it does (also, it seems that the EA XAS ADPCM encodes in FFMPEG, so you probably only need an ffmpeg.exe encoder...

Encoder for EA ADPCM?

Does anyone know of an encoder for any of the EA ADPCM variants (XAS preferably)? There seems to be a decoder out there but no way to encode. I'm attempting to replace sounds from The Sims 3 with custom ones. Some of the game's audio is in mp3, which I've managed to replace with the EALayer3 tool, b...

Problems with EA ADPCM

Hi there! So recently I've been using FFMPEG to convert audio tracks from a Sims game that stores its music in EA ADPCM R3 (or so according to FFMPEG). Almost all of these tracks have converted perfectly fine except two... The resulting files are just static. After researching as much as I could fin...
