The attached script should work for that sample and possibly others too. Only problem is that it will probably produce lots of split meshes, but better than not splitting at all :D Delete/remove other ".mdl" scripts before using this one. Thanks, I am reconverting now and it seems that the majority...

The noesis script only works for a small number of models, most have index and overflow errors, same for the max script. What version of 3ds Max are you using?
I have tried 64 bit 2013 and 2018 along with 32 and 64 bit 2010, all crashed on import.

Nevermind, after trial and error I found that the import option "Import as Standard Materials" needs to be ticked

In the XML file that is generated, if one does not generate then the model may not convert.

Apparently this arc format contains no data structures but only zlib-compressed streams. You should look for other files that store the file records. Ekey over on the ZenHax forumn pointed me to Offzip. Offzip has worked for one of the .arc archives and extracted files with extentions but no names....
