Re: Diablo III .app

Due to the complexity and uniqueness of the file format a standalone viewer program is the best bet for this. I've worked on things like that before and will look into it when I have the time however I'm quite swamped with real life stuff atm :)

Re: Diablo III .app

I noticed a few mistakes in some of your earlier stuff, it didn't matter for what you wanted to do (but it did to me) I've not fixed it on your script yet as I was focusing on a different area. I'll ofc upload the bits I changed when I get onto this tomorrow (most likely tomorrow)! :) Finally someo...

Re: Diablo III .app

Almost done will all the gams. Will be moving over to this area soonish :) Great, the current script can be found at http://diablo3dev.com/w/Models , I basically have the format architectually covered, at least I didn't find any models yet that have unexplored sections - the data in them is a compl...

Re: Textures of Beta Diablo 3, ".tex" files converter needed

There seems to be even more to it than that - from what I've managed to piece together in my limited free time was that actor files are the big boss - they describe the look and animations of a set piece, possibly even more. For example the dye actor files are virtually the same, they reference the ...

Re: Textures of Beta Diablo 3, ".tex" files converter needed

Do we know how they are referencing the texture files from elsewhere? It'd be quite helpful for the mesh research.

Re: Diablo III .app

Oh sorry the output stuff has been commented out for speedy testing. I've fixed it now but there won't be any difference in the output yet - these are progress updates on mapping the format.

Re: Textures of Beta Diablo 3, ".tex" files converter needed

Got all the data extracted but need to make them into images now. Grr.. taking longer than I want! edit: got guests around so I have to bail. for a few hours Anyone good at converting the binaries into actual images? Sure just slap a tga header before the data. 18 bytes: typedef struct { byte ident...

Re: Diablo III .app

Well the characters don't actually break. I think the wizard_female.app and the rest of them are actually only the models prepared for the login screen with complete sets of armor. There are several meshes in each file and they are merged together with this method. Once we have all the pieces in pla...

Re: Diablo III .app

Moving the .app research here from the game archive research forum. I'll be updating this post as I make progress with the format. Currently we have vertex, poly, normal, uv, tangent, bitangent and blendweight data mapped properly, there's still some stuff left to decipher. Update #1: figured out wh...

Re: Textures of Beta Diablo 3, ".tex" files converter needed

I think this thread has become a bit too confusing with .tex .phm and .app files all being discussed in it. From now on I'll be posting the .app model file research to the appropriate thread.
