You would need to reverse engineer the game executable to find the encryption/compression method.TimonS wrote:Damn! It is bad. OK, let's wait, maybe in the future someone will be able to understand.Ekey wrote:I tried use comtype_scan but without results.

Playstation 2 "r2t" / "rtx" textures
I extracted some texture files from a game archive, and I'm wondering if any of you know how to open them. The file extensions are "r2t" and the first 3 characters of the files are always "rtx." First 0x70 bytes: 72 74 78 54 CD CD CD CD C0 44 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 01 00 00 00 00 0...

Re: text compression
Almost exactly two years later, I have reverse engineered the decompression method. Here's the code: #define BLOCK_SIZE (0x10) typedef unsigned char BYTE; typedef unsigned int WORD; /* ps2 WORD = 4 bytes */ typedef signed int S_WORD; /* signed */ inline WORD read_marker(BYTE **src, WORD *block_index...

@Ekey You can tell the exe is packed by looking at the IDA image you provide.

Re: text compression
I've managed to extract some uncompressed data from memory. The bad part is that it isn't 100% text. The game decompresses text to the stack and parses it there, so I can't really find it in memory as it all happens too quickly. If someone knows how to debug games in the pcsx2 emulator I could extra...

Does anyone know how to extract the files from these? I've tried 7zip and winrar, but the .Z files they support are different..

[request] Timesplitters .qpm texture
Extracted from an archive. Each file begins with 3 text lines which I guess are the file info. I need help viewing the rest of the file.
example header:

Re: text compression
Unfortunately not, it's pretty basic math functions... You can dump it by making a savestate with the emulator when the text you've chosen appears on screen, then unpack the file with winrar/7zip or whatever and you'll have a file that weights 32MB (eememory.bin, but I'm not sure, can't check right...

Re: text compression
yeah, seems a non-standard approach. Apparently instead of 1b flag 8b code uses 2b flag 16b code. With some strange variants...I'd need the uncompressed file to be able to crack it successfully. You can obtain it by looking for a compressed text file that you know appears in the beginning of the ga...
